What is Protandim?

It is a Nrf2 Synergizer. Nrf2 is one of the key proteins in the body and regulates 1000+ of the 25,000 genes in the body. Dr. Joe McCord, a reknowned (now retired) professor from Duke University, used an easy to understand analogy of “ringing a doorbell” to simplify the chemistry. Think of every gene as having a “dimmer switch”. Nrf2 is the protein that can reach that dimmer switch. How does this fit in with what your doctor suggests?

The medical field has made tremendous progress in treating many diseases. With appropriate use of antibiotics, many infections can be cured. Unfortunately, this is more the exception than the rule. Many diseases such as high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and cancer are difficult or unable to be cured. As a result, the treatments are directed primarily at the symptoms. This can result in progression of the disease, long term requirement for medication and surgery if needed.

When you treat the cause, the cause goes away and you can stop the treatment. When you treat the symptoms, and not the cause…the cause continues, and not infrequently progresses. If there is no cure,  treatment needs to be continued and, not infrequently, increased in intensity.
